How to Host an Argyle-Themed Bachelorette Party

Whoever said argyle was restricted to men s vests and bad golf clothing was wrong. The classic pattern is exploding with an unrestricted revival all the way back to its '80s preppy roots. Argyle makes for a unique pattern as the muse for a naughty-meets-nice-themed bachelorette party.

Step1
Invitation: A pair of argyle socks sent with a sassy photo of you wearing the socks with high heels. Include a card that reads something like: There s a party goin on August 17 at 6 p.m. to celebrate Vanessa Henderson. She s getting married and the girls are gonna have a good time! So roll out in your sassiest, tricked-out argyle get-up, and wear it with attitude over to Amy s place, 555 Atherton Ave., Carmel, CA 91302. RSVP Amy@gmail.com

Step2
The vibe is an argyled-out English pub with a '80s twist. Set up a high table with dark wood bar stools. (Check with your local party rental company and see what kind of bar rentals they have.) Then hang an argyle flag above the bar with a monogram or coat of arms that represents the tribe. Something like The Clever Girls.

Step3
Make sure that all of the guests are equipped with enough argyle attire. If anyone comes up short, have a few extra pieces ready like sweater vests, socks, ribbons, scarves, belts, and gloves.

Step4
For entertainment, bust out the karaoke machine and vote on the best Madonna impression. Pick up '80s sound tracks to keep the vibe alive.

Step5
For snacks, think pub grub and serve fish and chips, mixed herbed nuts, and salad in wooden bowls.

Step6
Feature a beer-and-wine-tasting area where guests can help pick what to serve at the wedding. Leave comment cards nearby so you do not have to remember what everyone said about the samples.

Step7
As a party favor (along with other naughty bachelorette stuff), give each girl a set of barrettes for her hair, or matching hair ties, (the ones with the plastic fruits and flowers on them) and encourage them to wear ponytails at the party.

Step8
Encourage guests to come up with stripper names. The group can assign the names that best fit each person. Take the name of your first pet and add it to the name of the first street you lived on, and that should be your stripper name. This does not work for everyone, so if your name is not scandalous enough try the link below.
